First of all, thank you so much for checking out this website! I am so excited to be able to share this project with you. I've always been very interested and passionate about history, and so when I realized that there was such a large gap in our local church history, I felt inspired to do something to preserve and collect it. The most recent published histories of our movement are from the 1940's, and are usually focused on Canada as a whole. Many of those who remember the history of our churches and organizations are passing away, making this project a race against the clock.
Let me first explain what this website is not. This project is NOT intended to be an academic compilation, and therefore does not take credit for the content found within. This project does not claim ownership of any of the content, history, ideas, or content (unless specifically stated), and will always cite its source when the source is known. This project is not an organized non-profit, and will never solicit donations or funds under it's current form of existence.
Now let me share what this website IS. This project is intended to be a collaborative attempt to consolidate as much of our church history as possible in a publicly accessible space, from as many local sources as possible, while there is still time and sources available. This could be local church members who share their recollections, the research of former students and teachers at Maritime Christian College, leaders of local organizations, printed and published historical records, archived digital files from Maritime Christian College pertaining to church history, and anything in between. While the three branches of the Restoration Movement are separate, it is the intention and goal of this project to work collaboratively with members and leaders of any branch that wish to contribute to its success.
The hope and goal is that at some point in the future, the sources that are compiled through this research project can be used to create a compilation or book. However, the purpose of this website is an attempt at a digital database / archive of our collective Maritime church history, contributed to and compiled by you and I.
And so I want to invite you to participate! I cannot compile all this information alone, and it is going to take a long time to organize and upload.
If you have anything you would like to contribute
If you would like to volunteer time to help organize / compile history for specific sections or topics.
If you see something that is not accurate and have the sources to correct it.
If there is a church, organization, or topic that is not currently listed, and you have information about it.
Please reach out.
And most importantly, share this project with anyone you know who might find it interesting. The more people who hear about it, the more information we will receive.
Thank you!
